Our Building’s History
1870s
In 1844, the Baptist Church of Lockport was organized by Reverand Solomon Knapp. At a meeting held in 1874, a motion was passed to put and finish a basement and additional repair to the Pilgrim Hall Building.
1910s
A meeting was held on October 27th, 1915, and a resolution was passed instructing the church’s trustees to dispose of the Pilgrim Hall Building and additional church property. The Pilgrim Hall was then deeded to the Baptist State Convention with the condition that they sell it to the Lockport Social Center. The Lockport Social Center was incorporated for the sum of $2000. This sum is equal to about $60,000 today.
1970s
In the 1970s, Pilgrim Hall became the Plush Horse Ice Cream Parlor. Don Meints and a partner owned this parlor. Mr. Meints had been a choir instructor at Lockport High School in the 1960s and still lives in Lockport!
1990s
In the 1990s, Cool Creations took over and continued to sell delicious homemade ice cream to the Lockport community in the Pilgrim Hall Building! Cool Creations whips you back to the 1950s with checkerboard patterns and friendly staff. Stop by and make some delicious memories with the family!
